Bertram Directions: Your Edge in Educational Excellence

Current Issue — March 2010

Winter Thaw & New Beginnings

This issue continues the series of articles about the changing education landscape, contains advice on how to deal with the stress of school applications and visits, and provides ideas for your child’s summer activities. In The Savvy Guide section Mike Fontana, LMFT, has written a piece on launching your teen and gives some tips on how to make the move from home to a new venue as stress-free as possible. Jeremy McGeorge is introduced as the leader of our new Sustainable Education division, and the newsletter also has a link to the new Yale recruiting video and asks you to vote on whether you liked it or not. As always we provide you with important dates for parents and students to keep in mind during the spring, and it also contains the Sierra Club’s annual list of schools which are leaders in establishing and maintaining sustainability practices.

The Next Journey Begins…

The Premier Edition of Bertram Directions was published in November and is directed to those looking for trends and observations in the education world. This issue contains articles about the changing education landscape, advice on how to deal with the stress of school and college applications and visits, important dates that parents and children should have on their calendars, and introductions to the newest members of the Bertram team and to Marcie Swift, a Certified School Psychologist, who has developed a program to help individuals of all ages understand their passions and realize their goals. There is also a list of seemingly odd college majors which could lead to very interesting careers. Lastly, Bertram Educational Consultants, as part of its commitment to the environment and sustainability, offers thoughts on the best schools for environmental programs, as well as those schools and programs which are doing their part to reduce their carbon footprint.
